Meet Brigid D’Souza

Assistant Professor at Saint Peter’s University

Brigid D’Souza, CPA, MBA is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and the founder and owner of D’Souza CPA, LLC (launched in 2024). A former full-time college professor, Ms. D’Souza brings to her practice a wealth of experience from both the public accounting and academic sectors, having previously held senior roles at Deloitte and EY, and taught at Saint Peter’s University. Her professional focus is rooted in a commitment to purpose, service, and rigorous client care — with particular passion for confronting complex problems and advancing access to the accounting profession.

Ms. D’Souza is recognized on the NJ Biz “Power 50 Accounting” list (2023, 2024), honored for her work to lower structural barriers facing students pursuing accounting education and CPA licensure. She holds an MBA in Accountancy from The George Washington University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Art History from Rutgers University.

Her dedication extends into civic and community service. She is active in numerous organizations, including as Lay Trustee and Finance Council Chair at St. Aedan’s Church; founder and writer for CivicParent.org; strategy team leader for Jersey City Together; founding board trustee and treasurer for Team Wilderness; and past board roles with local PTAs and the Jersey City Children’s Theater, among others. She is also a member in good standing of the New Jersey Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ms. D’Souza is a published author in accounting and civic finance circles, contributing to NJ CPA Monthly and other regional outlets on topics from academic innovation to nonprofit compliance. She has frequently presented at professional conferences, including the NJCPA annual convention and Jesuit business education forums, speaking on issues such as diversity in the accounting pipeline and strategies to support students meeting CPA licensing requirements.

When not leading her firm or in the classroom, she enjoys traveling with her husband and two children to India and Ireland — exploring her family heritage. She once learned to solve a Rubik’s Cube as a classroom teaching strategy, reflecting her playful approach to teaching foundational accounting concepts.
