Wilderness Club is a free after-school program designed for youth aged 12 to 18. It runs Monday through Wednesday, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, offering a safe, engaging, and enriching environment that fosters personal growth, teamwork, and life skills. This club combines outdoor-inspired education, creative exploration, and practical support, providing participants with valuable experiences and tools to navigate their teen years with confidence and curiosity.

Wilderness Club - Fall 2025 Session

  • When: Monday through Wednesday (starting date TBD)

  • Time: 3:30 - 5:30 PM 

  • Where: Base Camp (503 Communipaw Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304)

  • Ages: 12-18

Weekly Breakdown:

Each week, Wilderness Club offers a wide variety of engaging and developmentally focused activities.

  • Monday through Wednesday: designated time to work on their homework and receive assistance from the instructors.

  • Mondays and Tuesdays: youth will participate in rotating activities designed to build life skills, creativity, and self-awareness. These may include team-building games, survival and problem-solving scenarios, peer mentoring, arts and crafts, mindfulness and emotional wellness exercises, career exploration, guest speakers, community partnerships, movie days, physical and mental challenges, and homework assistance. The goal is to offer a supportive, fun, and enriching environment that promotes personal growth and connection. 

  • Wednesdays, participants will dive into Photography 101—a hands-on introduction to photography that teaches basic camera skills, composition, and creative expression. Through visual storytelling, youth will learn to observe the world around them with a new perspective, building both technical skills and artistic confidence. Additionally, students will work on their homework, and any other activity the instrutors have prepared for them that day.
